A 6th birthday for Giselle

How did we go from this?

To this?  Isn't she just precious?!

This little girl with dreams of princesses and adventure is shy and quiet to the "public" eye.  Upon closer acquaintance though... she's a little chatterbox full of stories and plans.  With the sweetest of hearts and the strongest of wills, she can be just as happy in the mix of her siblings or in the quiet solitude of playing by herself.  The Frozen necklace and the chipped nail polish are a perfect testimony to her love for fashion, and the shy smile bears witness to her hesitant personality.

As child #4 she comfortably goes back and forth between playing the role of baby for the oldest 3 and big (motherly) sister to the youngest 2.  She will ask the older girls to "help her" make her bed and with the same breath ask if she can get Victoria dressed for the day.

Giselle does everything at her own pace.  She loves to know what is going to happen tomorrow, and the next day, and she also loves to count the days for the things that are important to her... every day...  She likes her pancakes cut before putting syrup on, and faithfully notifies me when one of the younger children needs a diaper change because she "can't stand" the smell.  But those are the quirky things that make her our Gelly-belly.  She doesn't like to sleep alone and pretty much every night she will find her way into someone else's bed.  She's a snuggle bug.

One of my particularly favorite things (and perhaps one of the only things I like about driving) is to look in the rearview mirror and meet her little sparkly eyes smiling at me.  She loves it when I play "Let it Go" and lip sync it while driving.  She loves to dramatically lip sync, when she thinks no one is watching, and we love to sneak in peeks of her displays of talent.

Her birthday was a quiet day this (last) year.  Two of her friends (Addie and Tessa) joined us for a play date and dinner.  We had Sergi's pizza because she doesn't like red sauce and she only likes Marguerita pizza.  She had dutifully informed me -months in advance- that they were to play outside, then come in for hot cocoa, then play inside, then have pizza, then cake and then gifts.  We got her a little cash register she had requested for her birthday, and her day was totally made when we followed her plan for the day.

Our cute little Gel-Bel.  How sad and empty would our days be without your little soft voice telling stories and making plans?!  We are so thankful for the treasure of your life!
